Dr. Patricia Telles-Irvin joined the University of Florida as the Vice President for Student Affairs in 2004. She previously served as Sr. Vice President for Student Affairs and Human Resources and Vice Provost for Academic Affairs at Florida International University.
She received her bachelor’s degree in Education at Duke University and a doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Boston University. As a native of Texas, Dr. Telles-Irvin is a licensed psychologist in the states of Texas, Florida and Massachusetts. Prior to becoming Sr. Vice President, she was Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Director of Counseling and Psychological Services at Florida International University in Miami. Before coming to Florida, she practiced psychology and was an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Texas Health Science Center-San Antonio.
Dr. Telles-Irvin is interested in issues of acculturation and diversity, as well as women’s concerns and student development.
